Running a Business is Hard.
Just like in life, a business has its easy times and its hard times. After a 3 year good run with my landscaping company, I found out that my manager, with whom I had a very good relationship, was stealing from me. This obviously hurt on a personal and professional level. Emotions aside, the company had to move forward. I was in distress and needed help.
During this time period, I reached out to a business coach, Phillip Ashcroft. Phillip not only helped me work my way through this very difficult problem, but he also taught me invaluable lessons about myself, people, and business. I can genuinely say Phillip has been a pleasure to work with and has been an invaluable member of my team when I needed him the most.
This is the second time I have hired a coach in my business career. Honestly, I only wish I had done it more often. Coaching has taught me a lot about emotional intelligence, my own strengths and weaknesses, and has made me better at managing the different personalities in my business. Working with Philip, myself, and other key employees ran our DiSC profiles, which really gave me deep insight into how different personalities work together.
Having a one-on-one relationship with a mentor who holds you accountable is key. I couldn’t have been matched up with a better mentor than Bernie!
